Sabra is a stylized depiction of plum blossoms inspired by classical 17th Century Chinese watercolor scroll paintings. For a dramatic touch of elegance and luxury, the blossoms can be depicted in hand-stitched embroidery which is applied to the silk before its firming to the paper. The designs branches are designed to either be initiated at the ceiling and arch gracefully down the wall, or to be positioned at bottom of the wall with the branches twisting higher.
The plum blossoms can also be designed to run horizontally across a wall, and work through narrower spaces than the falling blossom strategy. The horizontal plum design can also be created with touches of embroidery or worked to a full painted palette.
For a starker effect, with a touch of Japanese wabi-sabi, the Sabra design can also be presented with simpler blossoms, and branches entering from above and below.
As an addition to our Sabra collection of blossoms, Griffin & Wong has also recently introduced a design showing Magnolia blossoms that are designed to weave and rise across the wall, modeling the shaded alleys and elegant city parks of Savannah.
